  1. i have a drawing with workgroup reference. I then layer-linked some layers to create a series of residential units floor plans and saved this sheet as 'floor plans'. I copied and paste in place the same drawings and saved as 'rcp'. i turned off the 'doors' and 'equipments' classess. What puzzled me is that some equipments are NOT turned off. I went back to the master plans to make sure those not turned off are in the correct 'equipment' class. I went back to the saved rcp sheet and still the same equipments are NOT turned off. Please help. macosx/vw10.5
  2. i've been asked to do a layer-linked for the reflected ceilng plans. i want to clarify the steps . first, saved sheet of the rcplans with the rcp-windows and rcp-doors classes (ceiling checked for the windows and doors plug-ins) and then secondly, layer link these layers. any other better ways? thanks.

    window tool

i am having problem identifying the window types from the window tool. 3 looks the same from the 4th one which seem to be the simple window. is there a way to know which to pick before clicking the 4 window buttons? macos/vw10.5
  5. thanks robert and pablo. i' ve just created a master file of all the unit types and levels.i've even have mod-layers for the party and end walls of each level for each type. (i don't see why they are necessary but the senior thinks so for modelling elevation which i think i can do faster with 2d lines!). i layer-link each of these mod-layers into the respective sht-layers for the unit types and levels. I will be creating another file which will be workgroup referencing from the master file for the units-blocks. i'm getting there....
  6. thanks. i have been trying out on this option; 1. workref into another file of all the unit types and levels. 2. create layer-linked layers of the unit types and levels. 3. unlock the layer linked layers / tools/ align layer views/ and move them to the desired layout. I find it frustrating is having to pick the list of mod-layers for the layer linking. Is there a way where I can add mod-layers which I have missed in my earlier selection to the layer-linking layer? thanks.

  8. i'm trying to understand and work on this project as smooth as possbile. everyone in the office is also at the same level- trial and error- and reading Jonathan Pickup book. i got this file with all my mod-layers and classes defined for 3 unit types and 3 levels. now, the next step is to combine these unit types into 4 building types using workgroup referencing. I am wondering if I had to actually have separate file for the unit types and then reference them into this building-type file from the respective unit type file. is this right approach? can anyone help? mac0s/vw10.5
  9. i see. The mod-layers consists of 3 floors of a building which are stacked on top of each other. On each floor, there are split-levels which again are in different mod-layers. I then open made visible mod-layers for the respective layers and saved them as saved sheets. How do I then separate the 3 different levels on a layout for print? Do I convert copy to polygons from the saved sheet and moved them to the layout for printing?
  10. I group a drawing and then copy/paste into another file. I noticed the door or window symbol is separated from the wall and located somewhere in the group drawing. Why did this happened? osx/vw10.5
  11. reference to my earlier topic- MODEL-SHT-DET LAYER .I have copied a 3 drawings files into a single file. Then I started to named my layers to the MOd- and Sht-layers. Is this what Jonathan Pickup is talking about? It's my 2nd day at work and I can't go wrong with this. Please help. macos/vw10.5
  12. ok, got screwed up today for setting drawings the 'autocad' conventional ways! please help me with this. i got the model drawings in the mod-layers. I layer link the model-layers to one sht-layer. i unlock and cut/paste the linked sht-layer to where it should be in the drawing sheet. is this right? macos/vw10.5

  15. i'm an archicad-user(4.5-7),vectorworks(8.5-10.5) and autocad-user (2002) so to service my clients' cad needs. vectorworks seem to be between autocad and archicad- best of the both. i like the idea of a 3d then 2d because visual is important to me.i'm looking for a used vw10.5 (win xp) for practice. any for sale?
