  1. I agree with Mechanix. Work out the vertical elevations of all floors, roofs, porches, crawl spaces etc. I do this with a hand sketch that has references to the layer names. This sketch is then tacked to the wall over the monitor. The VW model setup function accomplishes this electronically; however it would be really nice if the graphic displayed during the setup routine were available for reference. As an alternate if it could be printed so I could tack it over my monitor to replace my hand sketch it would be really neat.

  2. I am attempting to prepare a demolition drawing for a renovation on which I am working.

I am not able to get the individual wall components or a styled wall (e.g. gyp board) to adopt the style of the standard VW demolition class(red Dashed) when placed in that class.

    also

Door and windows in a wall placed in the demolition class retain ther origional line weight and color.

    also

Stairs generated with the stair tool will not change from the class in which they were created (Vert Trans-Main).

How are others dealing with these issues?

  3. I agree this function should be part of the base program. As an Autocad convert this was one of the functions I missed not having as a part of VW. I did initially down load the script from Vectorworks and it seemed to work fine although it did not have the "look and feel" of the base product which I would think would be a marketing concern for VW. Each upgrade to VW requires that the add-on be reinstalled and the workspace configured to access the add-on making add-ons a cumbersome route to achieve functionality. IMHO

  4. I second the "WOW" of Ramon PG for the polygon from inner and outer boundry mode. I spend hours "rendering" elevations to represent materials via hatches. This enhancement should greatly cut that time. Nicely done.

  5. Does anyone have a technique for representing the inactive leaf of a double door in plan? As I see it the door PIO allows both doors to be open or closed in plan, not one open and one closed as is the tradition way to indicate an inactive leaf. The same appears to be true in 3D, although I have not had a need yet to show only on door open in 3D.

  6. I have created a dormer in a roof and am attempting to get the exterior face of the dormer wall to align with the exterior face of the wall below. The current situation is that the exterior face of the dormer wall aligns with the interior face of the wall below. I have tried to correct this by entering a negative 4.5" (my current wall thickness) in the "Edit roof element dialogue box - Building line offset field" but it will not accept a negative number. Is there any other way to align the walls?

Selecting the benchmark elevations or roof slope dimension and changing something will resize the text to the proper size. I have notified the Nemetschek folks via an emailed file and have had no response. Very frustrating problem as I find it occurring when making those last minuet revisions. 11.5. 8. I just upgraded to 11.5 and am having a problem getting roof textures to map perpenduclar to the roof eave. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I am working on a file created in 11.1. Only new roofs are affected. Existing roofs remain with the roof texture mapped perpenduclar to the eaves.

I just tested a new file created in 11.5 and the results are the same; roof texture does not map perpenduclar to eaves.

  10. When one is using the issue manager and is in the "Review Sheet Data" module what order do the sheets appear?

I currently am using the trial and error method to number and the title the sheets. That is; sequence through the sheets as they are presented in the issuer manager; view them and then go back and change the sheet specific data.

Does anyone have a better method?

  11. CipesDesign, Thanks for the response. I also can not get the frammer to recognize a roof face. Error is generated from a roof object created from "create roof" command. Can someone from Nemetschek confirm this is on the bug list.

  12. In attempting to frame a simple shed roof I am experiencing the following.

This error code is posted "VW has caused an error in ROOF FRANER.DDL - VW will now close. If you continue to experience errors restart. VW will then create the roof framing and I can continue working

    OR

The same error will be posted and VW will close without creating the framing.

Can any one offer a soultion?

  13. I too have been turning on all classes in viewports as default approach, however this seems to have resulted in excessive time when the view port is updated with hidden line rendering mode. (Several mins. for a two story house with typical interior wall and fixtures. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

  14. I also have experienced the same situation as Chris D. The actions that preceeded the loss of the saved views, namely backing up the file via "save as", and renameing are the same. I do not recall if I opened the renamed file.
