  1. Coming from Vectorworks 8, I feel that this is actually a step backwards - Previously the 'browser showed the full name of the symbol or object and the current object chosen for symbol insertion, now it shows only an abbreviated name and thumbnail - some of my symbol names start with the same word but end differently making it difficult to tell which is which (I know if I leave the mouse pointing to the symbol on the resource browser it will show me the full name after a few seconds but ???? if I'm looking at a number of symbols this is aggonizingly slow). Switching to view as list (which now gives me the full name, provided I give lots of screen real estate to the resource browser - at its narrowist I find an icon telling me whether I've chosen a 2d or 3d symbol or a hatch and and enough space for two letters to actually tell me what the sybol or hatch really is and and a huge (13 spaces) area telling me again that I've chosen a symbol or hatch) is worse as I have no idea what symbol is currently chosen until I actually place it in my drawing. Can we get this 'browser to give us a little more information?
  2. Okay...since there seems to be no reply to this, I'll post this to the wish list.
  3. Just curious, since this is a feature I don't use, but what is the function of lassoing or boxing objects and having objects that were selected now deselected?
  4. Did everything you suggested, Katie, and guess what? It still crashes! Went for a short while without a crash but I wasn't doing the quick deletions (looks like Vectorworks can't handle quick section/deletion actions). I'll have to slow down untill this "bug" is fixed.
  5. Can we add one more key command to the selection tool? In Vectorworks 8 (in 2D) you could select a series of objects by holding down the shift key and using the rectangular selection tool select blocks of data/lines. For example, I could quickly select all exterior elements of a floor plan for use somewhere else, paste it, and quickly delete any unwanted lines or information. Now, it seems I can do this to a point but if I overlap when I go to my next block, I "deselect" those items that occur in the overlap. I've tried other key combos like shift/alt but they still produce this delection process. This was a handy feature which now seems to have been lost.
  6. This is probably a stupid question but I can't seem to find any reference to this and it's driving me crazy. I know most of my questions stem from the differences between the old version and new version but old habits die hard. In Vectorworks 8 (in 2D) you could select a series of objects by holding down the shift key and using the rectangular selection tool select blocks of data/lines. I've tried other key combos like shift/alt but they still produce this delection process. Is there a different set of keys that will give this feature back?
  7. Thank you! This involves one extra step but certainly solves my "problem". (Imagine - using a program for years and not noticing this )
  8. A number of versions back (version 7 at least) if you cut an item and then pasted that item it would show up on the center of the work area (screen) no matter what scale you changed to or what ever part of your drawing you were looking at. Now it shows up randomly in different parts of the screen (I know there is some rhyme or reason why it does this) but it is annoying to find on a drawing with a lot of information that I have to hunt for the item(sometimes almost completely off the screen). It was so much easier when I simply looked near the center of the screen and then I could position the item exactly where I wanted. Is there a way to fix this or (if there is a logical reason why one would want the current configuration) to at least toggle between the two.
  9. Coming from Vectorworks 8, I feel that this is actually a step backwards - Previously the 'browser showed the full name of the symbol o object and the current object chosen for symbol insertion, now it shows only an abbreviated name and thumbnail - some of my symbol names start with the same word but end differently making it difficult to tell which is which (I know if I leave the mouse pointing to the symbol on the resource browser it will show me the full name after a few seconds but ???? if I'm looking at a number of symbols this is aggonizingly slow). I got a larger screen to actually see more of my working drawings, is there some way of making the resource browser act/look more like the one in version 8 or do I have to put this on the wish list?
  10. Vectorworks 10.1 Mac OS X (v10.2.1) My problem is that if I try to delete items in my drawing using command - "X" (using my left hand) and clicking on the objects I want to delete (with the mouse in my right hand ) I can cause Vectorworks to abrubtly end (no warning, no chance to save anything, not even the little pop-up telling me such-and-such program has suddenly ended). This happens when I am deleting a number of items quickly. This is infrequent but has happened enough times to be annoying (vectorworks 8.5 and OS 9 never happened). I know the solution is to either pick the items I want to delete in groups or all at once or to simply slow down my typing/clicking but what's the point of CAD/computers if not to help speed production up?
  11. I can't seem to find any info through the search so I hope some of you can offer some suggestions. I've recently switched from Mac OS 9 to OS X and from Vactorworks 8.5 to 10.2. I produce working drawings and have developed a standard (that I'm happy with) using Tekton fonts for general notes and dimensions and Graphite fonts for room names and title blocks. Both were of the MM type and I know now there are some issues with the older Multiple Master fonts and Vectorworks. I purchased both types years ago and it appears that Adobe itself may no longer support the MM type (looking on Adobe's website turns up references to Tekton MM and Graphite MM but to actually purchase the fonts only refers to the standard Tekton and Graphite). Aside from the cost of repurchasing a font I already purchased years ago, I am somewhat mystified at something that was "fixed" that wasn't really "broken". Why does my copy of Word X have no problem with these fonts and Vectorworks does? Regardless, I need to get on with my business and work with what I've got (sorry for my rant). Tekton still works for me and Graphite will too, but I have to keep going back to changing the font style each time I revise a room name or title block (which is a pain). Does anyone have any suggestions for other Architectural-type fonts? (Just an idea but it would be nice if Vectorworks would provide a selection of Architectural style fonts for those of us who purchase Vectorworks Architect). Thanks for any input.
  12. In Vectorworks 8 and previous versions you could join 2 lines through keyboard commands. Now you can only do this with 2 sets of parallel lines. Is there a workaround or am I missing something?
  13. Searched in various places, could not find this one. I just upgraded - iMac to PowerBook G4 / Vectorworks 8 to 10 / OS9 to OSX. There's a lot of changes, some annoying, some good. Life goes on, change is inevitable but my question is... I use GraphiteMM and TektonMM fonts (predominantly) - when I use the text editor on an existing text block it shows the text style correctly but when I click out of the box the style reverts to a different styleIs there a workaround or can I disable the text format feature? I've also noticed these font disappearing and reappearing at different zooms within the drawing (this was a similar problem in MInicad 5). any help would be appreciated.
