  1. Once a window is in a wall, how do I apply textures to the window jamb, sill, and muntins? The 'class settings' in the Object info pallette don't seem to do a whole lot to change the appearance. Also, am I able to tweak the glazing to get a more reflective quality? Thanks
  2. I place a window in a wall, set the parameters. I go to an isometric view in wireframe, and I see the window. I render it, and the window does not appear; the wall appears as solid. This happens in all of the rendering modes.
  3. Thanks again. I'll try the 'print to file' option first. But I still have a question about exporting a rendering to Photoshop: at what resoltion settings should I use to get a crisp image? AND, I had half a mind that 1,000 DPI was over the top. I had originally tried printing at the default which is 72 DPI. What DPI size would you recommend? Thanks, Dan
  4. Does anyone know a good source for 3D people models? Or are they hidden in Vectorworks somewhere................. Dan
  5. The objects themselves were jagged, I use raytracing, and have recursion maxed out at 9. I may have solved my issue for the moment: In the 'document preferences'>raster render I punched up the printing DPI to 1,000; that seemed to smooth out the jagged edges. This took about about 1/2 hr to render and print. My subsequent question is this: how do I save a rendering, at the resolution described above, that can be printed at this high resolution without having to re-render each time I want to print? Thank you,
  6. I'm in the tweaking stages of a rendering of a small model of a row of townhouses. My anti-aliasing is on, but the edges still look a bit jagged. Anyone have any additional tips on smoothing out jagged edges? Thanx, Dan
  7. I'm using either Custom Renderworks or Final Quality Renderworks.
  8. Thank you Kristen. You were right on the money.......
  9. No, nothing changes if I close the program and reopen it. Now, I'm pretty new at this Vectorworks thing, just a few weeks of seriously trying to produce renderings; so it may be that I'm just not understanding something, missing a setting. My main issue at this point is this: I build a model out of mainly walls and extrusions. I apply textures, these textures appear in the 'Object Info' palette. When I attempt to render, in any of the modes, nothing happens. Also, when I attempt Hidden Line render, the lines that should be hidden are not. This is where I'm at.......... Dan
  10. As I'm doing the model, I do test renderings (opengl, fast renderworks, etc.). So I'm modelling for a while, go to do a quick render, and it will not render in any of the modes. And here's today's glitch: I'm working on a different model, test rendering as I go as usual. I've added a few new walls, applied textures, and the newly added wall won't render. the older objects render, but not the new.
  11. System: Windows XP Professional Vesion 2002 Pentium 3.06 GHz 2.00 GB RAM Vectorworks 10 I'm working on a file, and about 4 hours or so into it, it now fails to render at all. Can anyone help? Thanks, Dan
  12. I am beginning the process of having a computer system built, to be used mostly for 3d modelling and rendering with Vectorworks. Does anyone any recommendations pertaining to: amount of RAM (above and beyond the suggested 512MB) , processers size and speed, size of hard drive, monitor size. Any guidance I can get will be greatly appreciated. Dan

  14. VW Version 10 Windows 98 10 G hard drive 256 RAM Intel 1.4 processor When I try to import an AutoCAD 2000 3d drawing into Vectorworks, my system crashes. Every time. Any help I can get regarding this problem will be greatly apprectiated. Dan
  15. I'm using Vw 10 and it's just 2d stuff (thank you for asking)................
