By definition a transom is "a window set above the transom of a door or larger window; a fanlight" . I believe that if you take a Marvin window for example and add a transom, Marvin will add the transom above the chosen window thus leaving the window per the IFC dimensions. If the transom is taken out of the window the IFC dimensions no longer hold. The VW interpretation messes with the window dimensions in elevations, schedules, etc unless you manually change the window height and elevation to acommadate the transom.

When adding a transom to a window VW appears to 'reduce' the overall size of the window unit rather than 'adding' the transom above the selected window! Is there a fix for this, or is this VW interpretation of a transom?

Can you print the stories diagram from the organization tab under tools?

The shapes that ship with the program reside in Vectorworks > Libraries > Defaults > Structural Shapes.
If you want to create custom shapes, I'd put them in the User folder following the same path. In this manner, they won't get over written next time you upgrade. (Hint: For Mac you have to expose your Library folder) - the path then is UserName > Library > Application Support > Vectorworks > etc. etc.
BTW, this holds true for adding any custom stuff, use your User Folder and keep the path identical to the Application folder's path(s) and then you'll be able to see your custom shapes, etc. in the various drop-downs.
Let me know if there's difficulty.

Thanks but I only see the steel shapes there. I don't see the new 2017 concrete shapes.

Where do the shapes reside? I would like to create a new shape (or edit a current one)

Is there a way to upgrade from 12.0.1 to 12.5.3 without internet access?
-
Thanks. It works great, just what I was looking for!!!

I am using the renderworks textures that shipped with VW. I don't have a layer DPI. I reset the resolution in the document preferences for raster printing to 150dpi. Helped a little but screwed up the lighting. Maybe I need to get a handle on the lighting first?
-
Is there a way to set the texture resolution? My textures are not real crisp. Using VW 12.5.1 architect w/renderworks.

Anone know how to make a 2D/3D Round Window?

Any good diagram of what all the door parts are? I add styles to trim, etc. but when I render, the parts seem to disappear. Mostly lose the sidelights.
-
I can't get door sidelights to render. or hold the style. Is there a sample of what all the door parts are?

I worked out the problem. Problem was the roof was created in class NONE. Trouble was in changing class to ROOF-MAIN and the texture did not want to apply.(Using Class Texture)
-
I Cannot get my roof to render at all. Even when i render in the hidden line sketch mode, the roof has mo surface.

how do you clip the eave from a roof in front of a flush dormer?
-
How do you create a dormer(?) that is in the plane of the wall that the roof sets on without having the eave carry thru?

both. I changed the line color to white - seems to work? I could not get the line thickness to zero or eliminate the lines.
-
how do you eliminate the lines on worksheets?

Sorry, I am running VW 12.0.1

I am using VW 12.5. Thought I might need to do the workaround. Thanks
