  1. wow! Thanks for getting these bug fixes out so quickly. Your users really appreciate the hard work that goes into crushing these bugs. I don't know if it fixed my problems yet since I am downloading the update right now but I am glad to see that I can count on Nemetschek. Your excellent support will not go unnoticed.
  2. Thanks Sean! that is great news. I am looking forward to the new release.
  3. I will also take some time to simplify the problem. The crash occures during copy/paste. it does not matter if you use the menu command or keyboard shortcut. The problem is completely random. You can copy and paste for an hour and then without doing anything different, it crashes. Once you go back and copy/paste the same item that crashed it, it then works. I have worked on about 6 different files with some starting from scratch and it happens on each file. I do not believe at all that this is file specific. There is nothing I can do to make steps that will crash it on demand. it is a completely spontaneous event. Further to this I am getting quite tired of the blaming and attitude talk. Comments such as "that is the price you must pay for working with the newest version of Apple's operating system" serves no purpose except to further infuriate users that are already ticked off. As stated, this is not an option for people that just bought new hardware. BTW. I have no problems with 10.2 or any other piece of software running on it. My problem is solely with Vectorworks. So before making snoody comments about other companies, I would take a look in the mirror first.
  4. Thank you Doug for confirming my problem. I thought I was the only one. What you have described is the exact same problems that I have. The most frustrating thing is that it is intermitant. If I know a certain thing will crash it, I can usually find a way to work around it but using copy and paste is like playing Russian Roulette. Nemetschek has got to do something about the Serial Number retention aswell. I find it simply unacceptable that I have to shut down all my other happily running apps just so that I can get rid of vectorworks garbage. Sometimes I have renderings being done in the background and I have to wait hours before being able to use Vectorworks again. Almost every program I use has serial numbers and I have not seen this behaviour on any of them when they crash.
  5. Its fine to say just don't upgrade to jaguar but I just bought some new systems with 10.2 pre-installed. I doubt that I can downgrade easily or at all. I am starting to get very frustrated with all of these crashes. What once was one of my most stable programs is now starting to look like a toy. I can't seem to keep this thing running for more than an hour. I think I narrowed it down to it randomly crashing after using the copy command. What makes this even more frustrating is that after it crashes it will only restart up for about ten seconds before it crashes again. You can work with it or just let it sit there and in ten seconds it will crash again. The only way to use it again is to restart the computer. Luckly 10.2 on a Dual Ghz starts-up in seconds or I would be having convulsions right now. Any word on when a new version might be released.
  6. quote: 9.3 is a beta. Yes , I realize this. I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing it out in case they look here to see what's going wrong. quote: This behavior was pretty standard for me with 8.5.2 under 9.1 when I first started with VW. I never had this happen to me before and like I said I've used it almost everyday for over ten years quote: Have you checked if the class visibilty of the previously placed PIO's has been somehow turned off? yes, I checked and every thing is on. This is definitely some wierd bug. Thanks for the replys
  7. Is it just me or is Vectorworks having big problems with OS-X Jaguar. I updated to 9.5.3b1 and thought things were well but then:I started having wierd crashes when editinig symbols, not all the time but once every couple of hours. These crashes would not effect OS-X or any other Application but when I go restart vectorworks it only opens for about 5 seconds before crashing again. The only way to get it restarted is to restart the whole system. Now I am opening files that I worked on yesterday and most of the symbols are missing. All the windows that I had in walls are gone. Just empty spaces remain where they were. I tried loading the file in vectorworks using classic 9 OS but the symbols are gone there too. After chalking that up to experience I started reaplying symbols back to the file and everytime I repeat a symbol it shows up in the resource pallette as a duplicate followed by a number ( eg window, window-1, window-2, window-3) even though they are the same symbol. I've been using vectorworks for over ten years and this is the most bizzar thing I've ever encountered. Is anyone else experiencing such weird things.
  8. I've been using vector works for over 10 years and I still can't figure out an easy way to this. Basically what I want to do is create a flat ground plane for a building, however, I want it to be a 12" x 12" gridded mesh where I can then adjust each vertex to create contours. Its probably really simple but I just can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
