  2. IS there a way to adjust the nudge tool and et the distance?
  3. Hi- I was hoping to find out what I am doing wrong- When I try to change the opacity on a polygon shingle hatch I am unable to change the opacity- When I draw a rectangle with the rectangle took, and add my shingle hatch- I am successful at changing the opacity level- Why can't I change the opacity level on a polygon shingle hatch?
  4. Is there a relatively easy way to have VW find the roof valleys when drawing individual roof faces that die into each other
  5. How would one go about creating a gambrel roof?
  6. When creating roof faces , example I have say a 10:12 roof pitch going one and then another 10:12 roof pitch going the other, How do I cut the two roof so i have what would become a valley between the 2?
  7. Is it possible to customize the way i use my dimensions in how they look?
  8. I am trying to add my web floor trusses using the the joist tool in the detailing category in a viewport. It seems when I try to go to annotation mode I cannot get the trusses to a front view- Is there a way to accomplish this?
  9. Can someone please help me with the extrude along path tool. I am trying to create a bottom flair of a exterior wall. It seems I really don't know how VW thinks when I draw say polyline along the exterior path of my wall and then when I extrude it it does not stay along my original path- Is there something I am missing- Please help
  10. I am designing a home that will have 6 separate sides. I would like to have all 6 sides generated in elevations. Every side is either at 0, 45. 90 degrees. How do i generate these elevations, I can can the front the sides, the rear, but I can't getthe elevations that are on the 45 degree. I tried rotating the floor plan 45 degrees but it seems to throw everything off when I do this. I then tried using the rotate plan for 45 degrees but when I try to generate a front elevation it goes back tot he orginal position- Do I need to use the camera tool in order to gererate these elevations??-
  11. Is it possible to export a basic 3-d VW drawing to Sketchup?
  12. Was wondering how to go about swooping a roof- Obviously I don't think I can use the roof tool- I am hoping when I swoop the roof it will look somewhat presentable. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated and examples
  13. So object would be the same as center? Is it very accurate?
  14. I am trying to sue the dimensioning tool on my sheet layer and for some reason I can not get the center of windows or doors. It seems that I can only get this when I am on the actual layer. Can't I use the dimensioning tool on the sheet layer and have it snap to all my center points?
  15. Is it possible for two or more people to work o one file and have the file continually update. How do others work with having multiple people work on one file
  16. Okay- It seems to be working in plan view- what about adjusting the lines weights in elevations?
  17. Have you tried using it. It doesn't seems to have any effect with the line weights. Do I need to changes something else?
  18. Just wondering how you can control the line weights for he individual parts of the window?
  19. Just wondering how people did there RCP and electrical plans- meaning did they take there floor plan and create a top view as appose to a top plan view and then add all the necessary electrical? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Nice looking model. As I begin to build my model with various types of renderings. I notice which I choose hidden line rendering, I loose all the detail for my windows. My windows actually looks more realistic in wire frame. Do I need to come back and draw more lines so the window has the correct detail? Also, how do most people draw there exterior trim- Do they use extrude long path? Also when using the coilumn tool and then do a hidden line rendering the verticle line show up and looks very unsightly- is there a way to get around this? LAstly- Can anyone recommend a 3rd party add that would have 3-d shapes, exmaples would be any type of residential exterior features, colunms, cornices, bed molds(crowns),railings, extensive door and windows plugin-, etc.
  21. Is it possible to create hatches with curved lines? Also, Is there a good place to get more hatches then what VW supplies, examples would be shingle siding
  22. Tad- I would love to see an example of this and then if you don't mind ask specdics about how you achieved certain aspects of the model
  23. Pete- These are some great elevations- My concerns are that we deal with high-end custom homes and most of the time we deal with using flair-out for the exterior walls near the base of the home and curved roofs with super detail eave profiles systems. IS it possible to achieve all of this still using a model. Your drawings look great but it seems that we deal with much more detail and with regards to the building shape If I break from the model I also feel like there will be significant trace over and trying to mask other things in the model. At this point I fear that the model need to be abandoned and then I ask the question if creating the model in the first place would be cost effective for my time management, or would line drawing just be easier and quicker
  24. Just wondering if people are happy with the way there elevations look from the model or do they need to go back and trace over everything in order to achieve the desired look. My understanding of VW was that you can achieve yhe desired elevations from the model. It seems to work for very simple buildings but was about high end, full of detail residnetial homes, Examples would br detail columns, detail facias, freezes, flares siding at base of house, ornate railings. I am just using the model as the background and ecentially creating the desired look over the top of it?
  25. When using hidden line rendering for windows in a front view- it seems too lose the detail of the jamb when I add trim- Is there any way to not make this happen- Do I need to add lines too it after I render it?
