  1. That worked, largely. I have used a point cloud to create a terrain model of the landscape on two sides of the house. I have enough points to be able to construct a model of the entire property, but when I do that, the terrain intersects with the house. I can't edit the site model to help me since as I have deduced, the crop won't allow me to cut holes out of it, only adjust exterior boundaries. The site modifiers tool would seem to be the way to go, but I simply don't get how it works. I already know the boundaries of my building which are the foundation walls. Do I have to trace them to create a site pad? That makes no sense to me. Worse yet, when I've tried to create a site pad, it just hasn't worked. I draw the boundaries and then as soon as my polygon is completed, they disappear not to be seen again. Any ideas? VW seems really powerful but with an interface that is too complex given the sparse documentation they have created.
  2. I could create a site model. But how can I do that from those randomly distributed points? I've tried the 3D polygons route. I don't know if that looked the best. Maybe its my pathetic lack of skill.
  3. Hi Benson, Thanks so much! Or as they say in Ireland "thanks a million!" I'm back in business. The page boundary still jumps hundreds of feet away (in scale) each time I change views but the model stays centered in the window as before. So I can work on the model, but something is still awry.
  4. I am working with a house on a site that has a lot of topography. Our renovation is only impacted by this in a few points, but we need to have a rough idea of where the ground level is when it intersects the house and where a large deck rests upon it. So let's say that I have the elevation of the ground relative to a level foundation slab at five or six different points or even forty or fifty points. How can I create a terrain that surrounds the house from this?
  5. Well this is a maddening problem for my first post. When I shift views from Top/plan to Isometric or even between the isometrics or between left and right, the page boundary jumps away from me. This makes me have to zoom way out and then retrieve it. It basically makes switching views impossible. I'm sure I've done something wrong. But what?
