  1. Thanks Benson. You really covered everything. It turned out that there were 2 image props at the same point. I don't know how that happened, but problem solved. Thank you.
  2. Hi, I rendered a model in "Realistic Exterior Final" a couple of times and each time the Palm tree in the back comes out shifted. Does anyone know what is causing this? The tree is an image prop. Could that have something to do with it? Thanks
  3. Thanks Kevin. I read your post among the others and was hoping someone found a solution since then. I guess the shell tool needs to be updated to accomodate complex subdivision forms, as was suggested in one of the posts.
  4. I've read on the forum that there are or were issues with converting a complex subdivision object ( that is something other than the primitive forms) to a shell. I've tried converting to NURBs, 3D Polys or Generic Solid but that doesn't work. Has anyone figured out the best way to do this?
  5. I'd like to rotate a half circle window where the curved part is on the bottom instead of the top. Is there a way to do this?
  6. SubD modeling is definitely more intuitive, at least i think so, but at some point if what is being modeled has to be drawn for construction purposes, then it has to go to NURBs. How nice it would be to be able to go back and forth....
  7. I was hoping to be able to randomly, intuitively move points around and then be able to go back and refine by moving further points to exact coordinates that could be determined by looking in the Obj info panel, all without having to convert to NURBS. I guess thats not possible at this point? I'll check out the videos.
  8. Is there a way to see the X,Y, Z coordinates of various edited points in space, as in a nurbs curve?
  9. This is such a great addition to VWs. I'm hoping though that the next versions will include more editing possibilities as in Subdivsion modeling in C4d. Also, and maybe it's just me since i'm just experimenting with it, but there seems to be no way to determine the position of the edited points in space, like working with NURBS. Am i wrong about this?
  10. thanks Pat for the help. I did have the comma set instead of the decimal in the System Preferences. As far as removing that annoying dash, it seems it should be a simple fix in VW's without having to resort to the extra programming you suggested.
  11. Maybe it only occurs with dimensions in VWs using a Mac computer. I would like to be able to input dimensions without the "-" mark that occurs between the feet and inches as pictured below. Also, it would be nice to be able to replace the comma used in metric dimensions with a decimal point.
  12. Great, thanks for your help Benson. As pictured here, I'd like to change the comma in the Centimeters dimension to a decimal mark and replace the - before the inches in the feet/inches dimension with a space. Is there a way to do this?
  13. I've created a custom dimension line that displays dual dimensions: inches/ft. and Centimeters. However the centimeters which are the secondary dimension, show up with brackets. Is there a way to remove the brackets?
  14. I didn't want the imported image to produce light. I just wanted it to show up when using the Renderworks background Physical Sky Interior, as if the scene existed outside the house. Maybe creating an image prop is the answer.
  15. Importing an image file to be used in the window of the house as a background to the interior shows up in Open GL but not with the Renderworks Background Physical Sky Interior. Using the image as a Renderworks Background works fine. But it seems that the Physical Sky Interior produces more realistic lighting. Why is that and is there a way to use image files with the Physical Sky Interior setting?
  16. I'm trying to use an imported bit map of a cityscape in the window of my model. Using the Physical Sky Interior fast setting for the background, for some reason, the image does not show up. In Open GL it does. I could make the image a Renderworks Background and it shows up fine , but then i'm not able to use the Physical Sky interior for the background in the lighting settings. Is there a way to use the Physical Sky interior where a bitmap will show?
  17. I see. Thank you for your help
  18. Yes in the background. Show Page Boundary is selected but greyed out and i'm not able to change it. I did notice thought that the page only shows up when editing a symbol from the resource browser if a sheet layer is in the main window. If a design layer is, the sheet does not show up in the editing of the symbol.
  19. Hi, I can't find an answer to this online. I'm working on a file that has sheet layers. When editing a symbol from the resource browser, a blank sheet shows up in the file in the background. Is there a way to turn this off?
  20. Thanks for the help Benson.
  21. I'm trying to recreate this form that was created in SketchUp but don't have a clue how to approach it. Anybody have any suggestions?
  22. Oh i see. I was only dragging one of them which was causing the problem. Thanks a lot.
  23. I created a NURBS surface from two identical NURBS curves spaced 15' apart, (one copied above the other) I'm able to edit all the vertices without a problem except one, or maybe it's 2 that are congruent? How do i solve this issue? Attached is the file. The vertex in question is on the far left. Thank you.
