  1. Anybody? Does anyone use the curved window wall tool successfully at least?
  2. Any time I try to put a curved window wall into a drawing, VW 2013 freezes and I have to restart. I get to the options bit but when I actually try to click in the drawing it crashes. I've spent several hours on this. The file isn't large and I have no idea why it wouldn't work, working on a month old iMac 2.9GHz i5 with 24GB of RAM, so it's not a hardware issue! In a possibly related issue, the options such as a custom sash and sill on a normal window are greyed out in this file as well. My workaround was to copy and paste a window from another file, which I can then amend. However I have no idea why using the window tool won't let me amend settings before putting in the window, or even afterwards. I tried restarting VW & machine itself, neither helped. It's been a frustrating day spent trying to get VW working, tempted every time something like this happens to go back to using VW as a 2D package. Any suggestions about a workaround?
  3. Thanks Mike, I just edited the original post to say it's working now, 24 hours later for no apparent reason. It must have been a weird quirk I guess?
  4. EDIT: Solved, though I have no idea how/why. Hello all, I got no responses in General discussion so reposting here. We've finally moved forward towards using BIM instead of 2D drafting. Have a house drawn in BIM, and was feeling quite proud of myself thinking of all the time I had saved when my elevations were auto generated perfectly. Then it came time to send a dimensioned window schedule to a supplier. Problem step by step: 1. I used a viewport to put the (hidden line) elevation on to a sheet file. 2. I double clicked on the elevation to edit view port 3. Selected edit annotations 4. Dimensioned - text looked weird because outlined but thought I could live with it 5. Returned to and printed sheet The text of the dimension appears twice, one partially blocking the other, and still outlined (but again could live with the outline). What am I doing wrong? At this stage tempted to convert to lines and give up on BIM. Thanks in advance PS Vectorworks - you really need to improve the help files!
  5. EDIT: Please ignore, problem solved itself, though I have no idea how or why. Hello all, We've finally moved forward towards using BIM instead of 2D drafting. 6. Just wanted to bump this as the problem is still unresolved. Any more suggestions?
  7. Uh oh, slight problem. After un-grouping the data stamp, it no longer updates when printing, even with the reset option ticked. Back to square one again. Any other suggestions?
  8. Yoginathaswami - ungrouping it didn't even occur to me! That worked perfectly, thank you. Taoist - I haven't got around to doing a 'proper' customised title block yet - so I'm just using a normal symbol with text and a data stamp in it. But it is on my list of stuff to do, (and I actually had a quick attempt at it last night before realising that getting paid work done is more important). That looks very useful for that, thanks!
  9. Basically I want a plot stamp on my title block, but I really don't like the appearance of the data stamp. I would like to lay out the items one after another, ie: Date xx/xx/xx Time xx.xx Filename xxxx.vwx but it seems as though I have to have a vertical column. I also want the text smaller than 8pt as I don't need it to be large, just useful for our own reference internally. It would be good to customise the font too. Another odd thing is that I can only get the US date style for short dates, so today, the 11th of December is coming up 12/11/11 instead of 11/12/11, and I can't find where I can 'fix' this. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. PS I really hope I'm not the only one working on a Sunday Edit: VW Architect 2012, Mac OS 10.6
  10. So I clicked on the window tool... and got this error "An attempt to define a Parametric Object named "Window" failed because Class definition with that name already exists in the current document. The entire operation is cancelled." I'm now stuck in an endless loop of clicking ok and it appearing again. I can't even save the file. What is this and how do I stop it happening again? I didn't create my own class called window, but I do have other windows in the document, which presumably do use the Window class. Mac OS 10.6.8, VW Architect 2012 SP1
  11. Thanks for the replies. I did as suggested, and thankfully I now have a working door & window tool. However, I got an error message saying "The following Plug-ins are not in the Plug-ins folder: Raum aus Waenden CW Stake Object, Raum CW" etc etc. I checked and these are in the correct folder. Are there other issues with the old workspace we should be worried about? Would I be better off starting a new workspace altogether?
  12. Hi John, I'm a previous Microstation user and the Bentley staff monitor their forums answering queries so I hoped it was the same here. Anyway, I've just filled out a support request form via VSS so hopefully I will get an answer soon. If I do, I'll post back here.
  13. Interesting one but no, I'm on a MacBook Pro here. 8GB of RAM too so I don't think it's a memory issue. I tried installing both Metric & Imperial libraries when reinstalling in case it was looking for a library that wasn't there, but no joy with that either. The OP was on a PC so it seems odd that it's a cross platform problem.
  14. It's exactly as grant_PD described it here I can't even get the little dotted door to appear on the cursor. As soon as you mouse over the document window, it defaults back to the select tool. I did a little experiment... if I click the door tool and then bring the cursor carefully up to the toolbar with wall insertion mode etc WITHOUT going over the drawing area (so up vertically along the tool icons and across horizontally), it stays in door mode and if I click on any of the tools there (Standard Insertion Mode, Offset Insertion mode etc), Vectorworks crashes spectacularly. PS Thanks for the reply
  15. I have this problem as well, on a blank file as well as on my current drawings. Infuriating. I've tried re-installing but no joy. I'm new to these forums - do Nemetschek check the problems here or is there somewhere I should report it to? Thanks. Vectorworks Architect 2012 SP1, Mac OS X - 10.6.8.
