  1. This is a problem I have had since at least v11. Everytime I use the File>Open command, my machine locks up and I have to crtl - alt - delete to shut VW down. If I open the file from windows, ie, file explorer, it works fine. I just recieved a new machine...was kind of hoping that this would not happen anymore! I have installed all VW updates.

This is so VERY annoying! Is there anybody who has had or solved this problem?

    TIA,

    Pat

  2. Hello all,

I am doing a scenic design consisting mostly of platforms of different levels. The platforms all have fairly intricate outlines. I was kind of hoping to create a 2d drawing and export it to Sketchup and try and manipulate it a bit there. I export my file as a dwg and it successfully imports into SU, and I was hoping to be able to grab each item and either push or pull them into shape. The thing is, is that it imports as one big mass of lines...nothing that I can manipulate. I posted this same question on the SU forum and somebody has made a page detailing sending AutoCAD files to SU at:

    http://www.chrisfullmer.com/la3d/cad/cadexport.html

I think I can accomplish some of the items from the list but not all of them! Has anybody found a method of doing what I am talking about?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. How about:

    1. When a light is selected, have a drop down box in the oip with the ability to apply different lit fog backgrounds.

    and

    2. For "Max Density" number of the lit fog background, provide a slider instead of plain number input. Currently adjustments are made in 1/1000ths increments. Seems a little unweildy to me.

Unless there is a good reason for it...which escapes me!

    Anybody else?

    Pat

  4. Is it possible to apply different lit fog backgrounds to different lights. Not multiple backgrounds to one light. Currently it looks like you have one background and are forced to use that for all lit fog lights!

    Thanks,

    Pat

  5. Hey,

In the oip, there should be a folder called "Label Legends". Open both your drawings, with the new drawing open. Go to the oip for the old drawing, navigate to the Label Legends folder, right click on the legend you want to grab and select "import".

At least that's how I *think* it goes!

  6. I had been hoping this might have been looked at in v12 and 12.01, but...am I the only one, who when I insert a postion summary box, the fonts are all misaligned, or don't fit in the boxes provided? This is a fairly useful function, but if it doesn't look right, I won't include it.

Is this something that could be edited, much like in the label legend manager?

    Again, am I missing something!

    Thanks,

    Pat

  7. Thanks Kevin...that worked like a charm! Ok, new question regarding the upgrade. When I select my projecting lighting object and look in the OIP, I see the lit fog and the intensity new settings, but I am now not seeing the "Focus" box. I had them (the projecting lights) "focused" to focus points in v12, but now there is no way, that I can see to associate a focus point with a unit!

I am sure I am missing something! blush.gif

    Thanks again!

  8. Ok...another question. I have four spotlights projecting gobos and I would like to give them the "lit fog" attribute. The thing is, is that when I select the light, the object info pallet brings up a "Spotlight" dialog (with channel, dimmer, color, etc. info.) instead of a RW light object dialog.

Is it possible to have lit fog projections?

    Thanks!

    Pat

  9. I am working on a scene with projected gobos. To use these you have to provide "focus points". When I do a rendering, (Custom RW), the rendering looks great with the projected gobos, but there are four disks hovering about the stage floor. These are the focus points. How can I keep them active yet not see them!?

    Thanks,

    Pat

  10. The thing is, is that it would be such a simple thing to add two column sorting. The people that would use this, probably wouldn't use LW in the first place, so NNA wouldn't be taking food out of anybody's mouth anyways. I use LW on my bigger plots, but on some plots, using LW is like killing a fly with a 50# sledge.

JT, you have made it abundantly clear that that you use LW only. That's great...god bless ya! But there are others that don't need it's power, nor can afford it. This is a gap that NNA can fill!

  11. I would love to! But I have to scrape just to buy enough seats of VW/SL. If I have to choose between buying one or the other, I choose VW. LW is an amazingly powerful piece of software. Frankly I don't need that power. All I need is to have editable ws's sort by two columns (that and my thermos!) VW/SL is *so* close. *So* close.

  12. I just worked to create a custom titleblock. When I went to insert it into the drawing (via the border command), it was physically there, but all of the text was jumbled up or there were areas of double text. Some text was real big others real small. It didn't look anything like my original title block!

Obviously I am doing something wrong! I have a file to send if anyone wants to take a look at it!
