I have OS X 10.6.6 and I did try restart several times. Is there no preference setting for this tool somewhere?

I am quite new to VW. All of a sudden my 2D Selection tool has a +sign and I cannot just move but copy and move. Looked all over preferences but cannot find where I can reset the tool to simple moving my object around without copying. Help please.
