  1. What you need is a solid to process colour guide (Colour Bridge).

This will show the Pantone colour on one side of the column and the process colour (CMYK) on the other side of the column. In some instances the colour differences can be quite vast because of the limitation of the CMYK colour gamut.

I also would be interested to know what colour space (CMYK or RGB)VW operates in. Most designers would work in the CMYK colour space for print - provide them with your diagrams from VW and it could result in colour shift if the VW colour space is not correctly interpreted by the designers's software.

  2. So I bought a 27" iMac i7 about 10 days ago.

Today I returned it. I have a window in front of my computer and a mirrored wardrobe behind me. The reflections coming from behind me and too great to ignore.

I could frost the mirrored wardrobe doors or replace them.

Then I thought, "Why should I renovate my office to suit a computer?"

So it went back. It is a lovely machine and, as has been pointed out in this thread, if you have a light source behind you as you sit then glare probably will be a problem

  3. Hi there all 27" imac users.

Thinking about updating my aging white imac to an i7 aluminium 27" imac.

Have any users been hampered by the gloss screens when used for architectural work? Have they resulted in eye strain and fatigue over long periods of use? Have reflections and glare been a distraction?

  4. I have drawn several shapes and added to surface to create one shape. I now need to edit the finished polyline to smooth it out.

Using the drawing tools only seem to create new objects - can they be used to "edit" a polyline? For example, can I use any of the arc tools to smooth out a lump in a polyline as a result of the Add Surface command?

  5. May I suggest one possible update strategy:

Buy 2011 in early September (VW usually updates at this time) if you can get a free upgrade to 2012. You may need to contact your local supplier if this is possible.

That way, if 2012 is buggy you can revert to 2011, which I think is relatively stable.

Thinking about doing this myself...shame you have to think this way though.

  6. Simple...

What VW needs is a pen/lineweight overide tool which works similar to a paint bucket tool.

When activating this tool all lines in 2D or 3D become "editable" so you can change the lineweight or even make it invisible.

Would be great for tweaking elevations as well.

This would be one of my top five "must haves" to be included in Vectorworks.
