  1. Thanks! So this is sort of the manual way to do this... I was hopping there was a quick way I could model a roof with the Create Roof tool at the appropriate thickness & pitch, then with the Roof Framer tool quickly set the 20 or more framing members that Id need... This works too though! p.s. the angle Im using is 1.19 degrees to get the 1/4" per foot slight slope.
  2. What I have is a structurally sloped roof at 1/4"/ft How can I model this with the slight slope and 11 7/8" TJI structural member's? I want to be able to cut a section, and see the TJI profile at correct spacing and correct slope depending at what side I cut. I also need to see no ridges or crickets in plan... Help?
  3. 2010. I see how to change the opacity, but for some reason it wont work on classes. I can get entire layers to change opacity, but not individual classes within that layer... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Ive got a 3rd floor plan set up on a sheet. I want items that are below (i.e. 2nd floor stuff to show up, but I want them to show up lighter than my 3rd floor stuff... How can I control this? I know I can manage line weights & fills in a section view port via advanced properties, attributes. Is there a way to override/control plan classes/layers in a similar way? Thanks!
  5. IS there a simple way to toggle between single object interactive scaling mode, unrestricted interactive scaling mode, and disable interactive scaling mode? Aside from going to the top left of your screen every time? It would be sweet to be able to on the fly toggle while drafting...
  6. Thanks for your response/interest! I guess I need to see the wall just in top view... you bring a good point about the floor to floor distance, Ive just been assuming my 2nd FF elevation at 9', but that still puts that 12' wall below the standard cut plane... What you described is exactly how Ive been getting around it, I have one wall on my first floor layer set to a height of 9', then a wall on my second floor layer, set to a height of 3' stacked on top of the 9' wall... I do not have a window that extends upwards beyond the second floor level, but what if I did? How would you handle that situation? In-lieu-of drawing a 2D polygon on my 2nd floor layer, does the stacking wall situaion have any drawbacks to it? Asside from the obvious joint line visible between the two walls... and how would you get rid of that joint so that the two stacked walls read as one continuous wall without the break, in 2D elevation and in renderings... Thank you so much for your help!
  7. Thank you so much! HUGE help! I have a pretty respectable model going already!
  8. I have a 12' wall on a layer called 'First Floor', when I switch to my 'Second Floor' layer, I cant see it. I can see it if I have the Gray or Show others option selected, but then I also see every other wall on my first floor layer... How do I get around this? I need to see it, as naturally, the 2nd floor cut plane still captures that 12' wall from below...
  9. So Ive been searching near and far, looking in and around all these forums, and throughout the web for a step by step, on how to build a 3D model. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Give me some pointers? I'm fairly good with Revit, but don't have a clue how to even start building a model in VW 2010. Maybe a few of the basic steps would be good. Just get me to start modeling a simple box building with a floor and a roof, that's all I need to get started and figure the rest out. Please help! Sorry to be oozing newbieness all over these boards...
