  1. How's that for service! two minutes and the help I need is there. Thankyou!
  2. This is what I have been hoping for. I have upgraded to 2015, and now I am feeing a bit stupid as I cannot figure out how to get a hatch onto my 3d wall. I don't want a coloured texture, just the hatch. I'm sure its very simple and so I/m hoping someone might be able to point me int he right direction? Thanks, Sharon
  3. Thanks for the replies, The Publish command was what I was looking for - different from how it used to be in VW2011. I am discovering a few things are different, but a lot of the changes are good... little things like rectangles changing into polygons if you edit a corner - so simple but very useful. Sharon
  4. I have just upgraded to VW 2014, and I suppose will upgrade to 2015 soon. In the meantime, I have just tried to export a single sheet to pdf format, and it all looks a bit different to how it did before - and I can't find the option to export in black and white, which is what I want to do. I'm sure that it is all very simple, so is there someone who can save me hours trying to find that option and tell me where it has gone? thanks, Sharon
  5. Perfect! Thanks so much for the help - that is exactly what I was after. This forum in invaluable as I would have spent hours trying to figure that out on my own! Sharon
  6. I am drawing a brick veneer house which I have done many times before, but this time some of the walls are at a 45? angle to others. What is happening is that the hatch indicating the brick veneer in my wall type (45? lines) is fine on the walls that are vertical or horizontal in plan, but those at 45? or 135? are showing the hatch as vertical or horizontal, thus losing the hatch effect. Is there a way I can get the hatch to rotate so that it is always at a 45? angle to the wall itself? Thanks Sharon
  7. I have two different files, one is a single level house, and the other a split level house with three different levels. I have the roof on a separate layer in both of these files, and one layer for each floor level. On the single level house, if I make the floor and roof layers visible, I can see both and alter both in front, left etc views. On the 3 level house however, I cannot see all the layers in front view at the same time, which is a bit frustrating to say the least. I have set up both files from the same template and am a bit confused as to why I can't see all the layers nicely in the 3 level house. I have linked all the layers on both files to another layer so I can see the whole house as a 3d model, but of course I can't edit anything on that model. Can anybody tell me what I may have done wrong on this one? I am hoping there is just a setting that I have turned off somewhere? Thanks
  8. Thanks for that?. not what I was hoping to hear but what I suspected the answer might be. I have ended up copying the layers I need onto a separate layer, and then rotating part of the plan so that the whole house is in the same plane.
  9. I am drawing a house where there are two parts of the house at 30? to each other, with a link between them. I need to draw a section through the house, and want to have the section go through the first part of the house, turn 30? and continue through the remaining part of the house so that I end up with true flat sections of both parts. I hope that makes sense to someone! Can I do this on vectorworks, and if so can someone please tell me how?
  10. When I export a drawing to pdf and select the black and white option, my walls are coming out as just the two lines (brick veneer is staying hatched). This means that the drawings look unfinished as there is no shading to the walls. Can anyone tell me what might be going wrong? My wall styles are just the default ones with solid grey colour fill. Thanks
  11. I have had this issue come up a couple of times now, whereas it never used to happen. I can mirror a window in the same wall, but am wanting to mirror the window on a 45? axis to have the window in the wall that is at 90? to the original?. hope that makes sense. What is happening is that the red dashed mirror line will only go vertically or horizontally, not let me put the axis at any other angle. It is not my snapping preferences that are the issue as I can mirror other objects however I like. Does anybody understand what I mean and have a suggestion as to what I need to change? It is a pain having to copy the window and then place it manually in the next wall rather than just mirroring it.
  12. I have just tried making a roof on a rectangular box in a new file, and it worked, but when I tried an L shaped roof I could only put a dutch hip onto one end of it, and not the other. Very odd.
  13. I too have come across this problem with a file I am working on, but even in a new file the dutch hip option is still grayed out. Any further clues?
  14. I am able to use the command in another drawing, just not the one I need to! I must have something wrong somewhere that is causing this to happen, but I have no idea what it is.
  15. I have just tried using the Create Section viewport, and then converting to lines, and it has worked just how I want it to. So my question is, what is the difference/advantage of one command over the other, and can anybody tell me where I went wrong when setting up my drawing that meant the Cut 3D Section command wouldn't work properly? Also - I assume that the converting copy of the viewport to lines is not going to upset anything else?
  16. I am using the cut a 3D section command. I have been trying again today, and it is still not giving me any choice. Very frustrating as it is choosing the opposite direction to where I want the section to look!!
  17. I have tried what you suggested, but at no stage could I find a reverse direction option on the object info palette.
  18. I am trying to cut a 3d section of a model that is viewing just fine in every way I look at it, but when I put the section line through it, it obligingly shows me the black arrow and asks me to choose which way I want to look at the section, and will then only go one way! I have tried doing this in another document, and it works fine. What have I done wrong? Is there some setting I have wrong? I have tried closing the document and VW and opening again, but no joy. Help please?
  19. Hmm, I have tried deleting the viewport and making another, and now the layers are stacking at the correct levels. I have no idea why, but at least it is working now.
  20. I have been using VW 2008 up until a few weeks ago but am now using VW 2011. I have set up my layer heights, and the walls heights are set by using the deltaZ but when I look at the house in 3D, the layers are not sitting on top of each other as they should be. I have checked and re-checked the layer heights and cannot seem to figure out what is going on. I must have missed something obvious! Any clues?
  21. Up until now I have just been using a 2 when writing m2 for example, but I would really like it to look like it should. Does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut for the squared symbol? Thanks Sharon
  22. Is there anyone that can tell me how to make a window that has a sloping sill to go above a pitched roof? I can make the head slope, but can't seem to figure out how to make the sill slope instead. Any clues? Sharon
