Pat, Thanks so much. Figuring out the orientation (for alignment purposes) of the object I made by extruding along a path took a little bit of doing. In the end it worked perfectly.

Help, I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a groove for an O-ring into a design. By groove I mean a circle with a cross section roughlyu that of a U that an O ring will seat into. The closest approximation I could think of would be to put a very shallow section of round tubing within a drilled hole. I'd appreciate any advice.
