  1. Unfortunately I would still go with a Wall Type for each variation of the wall, however to make this process a little faster make sure the Wall Components that have different colors are Classed. Then I would create a class for each color or material you are going to need ie. CMU-paint-grey light, CMU-paint-grey dark etc. Then when you need to have a new wall type just duplicate it and assign the correct class to the correct Wall component. ( I agree there will be a lot of wall types but I think once it is set up you'll get quick at it and the advantage is you can quickly tweek a wall or material and the changes show throughout the file. An added advantage is you can override certain materials in VPs for presentation purposes because they are classed.)

Presumably you'll create a library of wall types in time that you can use without needing to create them each time.

    Good luck!

  2. Not something I am experiencing, max once a day on Windows (a little too often I think but not as catastrophic as yours.....)

You using files created in older versions? Or templates created in older versions? Any imported dwgs or other imported 3D geometry? Does it crash on all files or just one?

(ArchiCAD, Revit (had a crash today), Bentley etc all crash sooner or later :))

(Far less crashes on a Mac though for most of these apps in my experience)

  3. I would like to see an enhancement of the Chamfer tool so that it is possible to have 2 different setbacks along the subsequent axes/planes.

(When creating masses for buildings it is very common to create the roof by simply chamfering the top edges, however at the moment this is limited to 45 degrees, alternative modeling to achieve this is cumbersome in relation to what is needed.)

I would subsequently like this function to be ituitive, ie. once an edge(s) are selected simply move the cursor from one side of the edge to another to switch the setback sides in combination with a live preview. Also a checkbox for equal setbacks would be logical.

  4. I find the best way to do it is to use the native door/window plugins and then use those to create a symbol with, this way you have a clear list of the different types and any change you make to one type shows in all the instances in the file. (The only down sides are you need to have different types foannotation etc added in the symbol that is wider than the original hole object will make the hole in the wall larger.....)
