  1. Roger, I can go into settings in all doors and Cancel and choose OK and nothing happens....all is well?!

    Check these things:

1: restart VWs see if that helps

2: check the class settings in the Door settings

3: check that Draw Wall Lines is off in the OIP

4: check that the Threshold is off

5: check that the corresponding classes are actually turned off....

  2. Andrew, sounds like you are used to Revit?

In Vectorworks we show and hide classes in a more traditional fashion (like AutoCAD and ArchiCAD), through class settings.

However if you would like a work flow more like Revits Temporary Hide I would suggest the Visibility Tool, basically you can hide/show objects in a similar class by clicking on them depending on what you have selected in the mode bar. If you would like to show(unhide) something that is hidden press the V key while the Visibility Tool is active to temporarally show hidden objects and click on the ones you want to show again after selecting the correct mode.

  3. You could try with an IFC export, chances are great his software can import it (however only 3D objects are export no annotation etc.)

If you want to check what the IFC looks like you can use these free IFC viewers, (he can too of course :) )

  4. ... as well as a segmented collapsible OIP, since often on objects like Windows or Doors, the OIP can get EXTREMELY long and collapsible menus would be more ideal than scrolling,

Perhaps adding an option for ribbons would be nice as well, I think it would be easier to jump to the correct 'section' in doors/windows/stairs/spaces etc. by selecting the correct ribbon.

Even nicer would be if a little dialog would appear next to the cursor when hovering a door/window etc with these sections to click on. This would mean only one click to go to the correct section in the OIP to edit!

  5. It is possible (but it should be easier than this NV!):

    1. Take your window and make it into a Symbol

    2. Edit the 2D Component and draw the window reveal with 2D elements so that it looks like you want around the window (see image below, I made one red so that you can see what I added) make sure the window has full break without caps to make the 2D and the wall merge.

    3. Edit the 3D wall hole component and create a 3D element that will be cut out of the wall to create the correct reveal in 3D. (In the image below I just created a random shape to show what is possible.....)
