Thanx for your help with this-

I run multiple moniters on my system(three) and the video card was a likely suspect. One of the video cards was an old s3 type that had no xp drivers available. I resolved the problem by lowereing the color requirements in display properties box-

Katie thanks for the response, I checked the button and it is depressed-and stil no resize cursor. I have also noticed quirky behavior in other areas --for example a text cursor instead of an selection arrow, a resize cursor instead of cross to zoom in or zoom out.---just to name a few.

?? any suggestions ??

as you can imagine, this is really killing my production time- so any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have recently upgrade all my computers to windows xp. On one of my machines the selection handle dont work properly- ie. if I put my cursor on a selection handle an arrow should appear to indicate the ability to stretch the rectangle- this no longer happens-only the cross cursor is displayed. Iam running VW 8.5.2 on a 333mhz with 256 ram. On all the other (newer) machines VW works great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im trying to draw a 3d model of a part that is basicly tubing bent to

different shapes. I have never done this but am certain its possible .

I believe I need to extrude along a path but cant figure how this is

accomplished-

Im useing VW8.5.2--

[distribute objects?]

I was useing excel the other day and came across a neat feature called distribute vertically & distribute horizontally -this allowed the objects to be spaced evenly between the first and last object.

Is there a way to do this in VectorWks?

If not would be a nice feature or scripting project.

Well I heard plenty of bashing about v 9-

am I to assume that the patch has resolved all the problems that I heard about in version 9?

I can understand your frustration -I have used minicad and currently use vw8.5.2. as well as AutoCad 14-I hate Autocad and only use it as a last resort. I love Vectorworks and find it an indespencable tool- one I could not live (work) without. Im waiting for the bugs to be worked out of VW9 before upgrading, however--

anyway the other side of the coin -for what its worth : )

I use PDF on my Win 98 machine -it spools the same as my laser printer- a few seconds-Im not sure what the solution is but something is definitely not right on your end.

I was in the same place as you. I took maybe a year to really begin reaping the benifits of CAD- today its an indipensible tool that I use every day. Start with the basics-and remember, unlike pencil drawing-CAD is more about scale, and less about just drawing lines.

[Translating files from MC6(mac) to VW8(win)]

try adding the extension .mcd to the end of the MC6 document after you copy it to the windows machine...you should see the Vector works icon after doing this..should be recognized as a minicad document after doing this and open in

vworks

Im useing v 8.5.2 Im considering upgrading to v9 if the new version addresses the problem I have with old version-that is all placed images print -flipped (how annoying!) This only occures on my NEC superscript 870-- all other printers are fine-tech support was no help at all with this issue- they blamed it on NEC's drivers-NOT!

If anyone has any imput I would be gratefull--

BTW-Ive been monitoring this board for a while trying to get a feel for the new version 9- whether to upgrade or not-Ive come to the conclusion that tech is too busy on the new version 9.1 to respond to any of the post...; )-
