Hiring F/T VectorWorks / Production Designer We are AVD, a full service technical audiovisual company with headquarters in Northern New Jersey. In business for over 50 years, we are currently hiring a Full-Time Production Designer to join our team. If it’s the right person, we would consider remote work. The size and scope of VW drawings we produce can vary in scale from single room / venue in 2D, to elaborate, multi-venue events with 2D and 3D outputs. Looking for a highly motivated, proficient individual who knows Spotlight, super useful if you have experience in Photoshop/Illustrator as well. Andrew Fethes Architects, PA is a small, architecture and interior design studio located in Bergen County, NJ, 10 miles west of the George Washington Bridge. We have a diverse practice with a broad base of commercial and residential clients that are predominantly located in the metro New York area. Our projects are defined by a simplicity of expression and a strong sense of appropriateness. Description: We are seeking to hire a motivated and talented intermediate level staff architect to work on various projects and general office tasks. This position works closely with the principal in providing professional services. The position has a strong emphasis on design conceptualization by computer and by hand, written and verbal communications, construction detailing knowledge, and construction drawing proficiency. The number of years of experience is less important than finding someone who is the right fit for a long-term role at our firm. This is a permanent position. General Qualifications: Distinguished intermediate architect who is eager to join a rising and successful firm in the New York City area. BA or BS in Architecture at minimum. Six to eight years of post graduation experience. Passion for construction and how buildings go together. Design-oriented. Excited to work on all aspects of a project – from schematics to punch list. Excited to work in a small office environment where you will be exposed to all aspects of design projects and are happy to assist with any tasks, small or large, whether project-related or administrative. The ability to work in a dynamic office environment on several tasks at once. Self-starting, task-oriented and efficient person. High level of attention to detail in all aspects of work. Excellent at managing task priorities and honoring deadlines. You already live in the New York City metropolitan area. US Citizen or Green Card holder ( we cannot sponsor H-1B Visas ). Required Skills: Macintosh experience. Vectorworks drafting skills, demonstrated by professional experience. 3D modeling skills in Vectorworks, Sketch Up, or related programs. Vectorworks proficiency must include professional experience with key commands, class and layer management, workgroup referencing, symbol use and creation, plug-in objects, viewports, and standard drawing etiquette. Proficiency and eagerness to engage in freehand sketching. Graphic design skills to prepare engaging and visually compelling presentation boards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Thorough and meticulous at picking up redlines. Proficiency in field measuring and producing the related drawings. The ability to independently produce design development and construction document sets or have assisted significantly in their production. Familiarity with coordinating documentation with outside consultants. Optional but Advantageous Qualifications and Skills: Experience and passion for drawing all type of construction details. Experience with wood frame construction. Good knowledge of New York City filing procedures (DOB, LPC). You can independently produce presentation, schematic design, design development, and construction document sets. Participation in a project from inception through construction. Experience receiving and processing Construction Administration submittals for Architectural and FF&E items. Experience taking and producing Meeting Minutes. Photography skills. Compensation and Availability: The position is immediately available. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
