  1. Hello all, I've recently purchased and installed several tutorial manuals from Vectorworks (by Jonathan Pickup & Gregg Hillmar). I believe I followed the installation instructions correctly, but when I'm reading the PDF manual on my screen, 1) there are no listings/icons telling me when to play a movie and 2) the movies are not in my Vectorworks Essential Folder on my desktop. So when I choose the movie from my movies folder I'm never sure that I'm playing the one designated for that module. They're just numbered. I'm certain at times that they aren't the the correct movies. I would love to get the movies for each manual into its corresponding folder. Finally, I can't even locate the movies using "Finder" on the single CD/DVD that came with the "Essential Manual." Any suggestions? Thanks much! Anthony
  2. Michaelk, Thanks for the inspiration! I went into SmartCursor Settings and turned off "Acquire Smart Point if the mouse stops for: .5 seconds." I can now snap to the grid and still align with other objects. Thanks again, Guy
  3. Hmm. The saga continues. While drawing rectangles or moving a rectangle (2D or 3D) it did not snap to the designated 1' increment. This is a simple thing, but I would use it a lot. I know there's something I must have missed in the settings. Thanks for the suggestions, Guy
  4. I'm in Top/Plan view and it doesn't matter weather I am drawing or just moving the cursor around the screen. It won't snap to the grid. Thanks, Guy
  5. Hi All, Switching from CAD to VW ... have set grid snap to 1' (ref grid same) and the snap grid is highlighted in the Constraints menu, but I can't get the cursor to snap to the grid. Suggestions please. Thanks Guy
  6. Thanks michaelk, I have the complete student version and am using the os as you except that I have a macbook and not pro. I thought I was using snap to distance but I'll check again.
  7. I'm an AutoCad User and when I try to draw a wall parallel to another and use a "datum" and offset distance ... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I choose wall in "building shell" then I open the snap??? to distance in the grid and snap dialogue menu, then I hover over a corner wall and slowly move my cursor to near the input distance - 60' to the left. I don't get the dotted line that I get when it does work. Any suggestions? And by the way, is there a particular forum for beginners? This is my first post and I'm not familiar with the board. Thanks!, Guy
  8. Oops. I see someone else posted the same URL. One point of advice though, when your working the tutorials and can't find the drop down menu or tool he's talking aout, it might not be where he's telling you to look, but the feature is there, you just have to look at other menus.
  9. I'm new to this as well and found this site VERY helpful: http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/thetr263/index.html This porfessors concentration is all about theatre and VectorWorks.
  10. Hey all, I just got a large monitor and it's about 6' away from my work station. I'm wondering if there's a way to change the text font size on the tool bars. Can't seem to find that option in any of the drop down menus. thanks
