If you experience a black drawing area after updating your graphics drivers:
One of the following is normally the cause:
1) The driver was updated while Vectorworks was running, if that’s the case, normally you can reboot the machine and it will resume working normally.
2) The driver installed was not actually the latest. this is most common if you try to update the driver through Windows Update instead of installing it manually as described HERE.
3) Uninstall and reinstall the same exact driver with Vectorworks closed.
4) Roll back to the previous driver and don’t update again until the next driver version comes out. Steps for doing this can be found HERE.
