The serial number conflict error will appear, even when only one network device is active and no other versions are running on the network, reporting an IP of 127.0.0.1 or 169.x.x.x.
Inipconfig, you may see the following:
"Tunnel adapter xxxx.xxx.xx.com: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected. Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : xx.xx.com. Description :"
To correct this:
1. Open the command prompt. Click Start and then type CMD.exe in the Search box.
2. Right-click CMD.exe icon in Programs and choose Run as administrator.
3. When the User Account Control box pop up, click Yes. At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" and then press ENTER:
4. Reboot the computer.
