Andrejs
When using RW8 I was able to get nice realistic soft shadows in my renderings. Now that I am using RW9 all shadows have a hard sharp edge and do not look convincing. I called T-support and they told me now that RW does not use Quick Time that I can't get soft shadows. It seems silly to me that an upgrade from 8 to 9 takes away the ability to render soft shadows. I've tried experimenting with the Custom RenderWorks settings but to no avail. Does anyone know if there is anyway to get soft convincing shadows in RW9? The only thing I can think of is to render without shadows and then airbrush shadows by hand in Photoshop. This seems a bit ridiculous to me and I wish T-support would address this issue. Quote Link to comment
Peter van der Elst
Have you tried to render with shadowmaps rather than raytrace. you'll lose some raytrace features like shadows through glass, but you get soft shadows. Quote Link to comment
Andrejs
Thanks for the reply. Yes I am using shadow maps and not matter how low or high the detail setting is I still can't get soft shadows. I am running VW and RW on a PC. Are you using a MAC? Maybe there is a difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks Quote Link to comment
