dhadley
I often work with automated rigging and am trying to easily present multiple position variations of lighting trusses. I've always just made a layer for each configuration, but duplicating all the objects can quickly create a very large file. Is there a way to show the same object in multiple positions? markdd
You could experiment with Design Layer viewports of the objects. You can make multiple viewports of the same objects and put them at any height you like. The only thing you need to make sure of is that they are all on their own design layer. 2 Quote Link to comment
dhadley
Thanks for the tip, this does seem to be the prevailing method and it works for changing angles in orthogonal views but leaves me wanting for renderings involving perspective views. Quote Link to comment
markdd
In order to get good perspective views from design layer viewports you need to create them without using a crop object. Hence the comment above about keeping everything on its own specific layer. You should be able to get any 3D view you like with a design layer viewport. Quote Link to comment
Sebastian Giese
The VWX Plugin https://www.production-assist.com can show different settings of structures over a timeline, besides a lot of other cool (rigging) stuff (e.g. structural calculations of ground supports). The basic version is free. best regards from berlin 1 Quote Link to comment
