Zone of Visual influence tool - how to show result?

I'm on VW2018 and want to use the Zone of Visual influence tool but there seems to be no way to show the result.

 

The too-brief help file says the result appears but I see nothing other than my model.

 

Also there don't seem to be any settings other than "click on the model to choose location"
