Please help me!

I have been teaching myself vectorworks for the past eight months and I have decided to turn my attentions to 3D animation.

I create a basic one floor house in about 30mins. Then I decided to add some furniture. Tables and chairs are easy to create and manover, but I wanted to stick a painting into one of my walls and found this almost impossible! Any suggestions/tips?

Also when I create a house with a roof, how do I get the wall to join to the roof if the roof is not a flat top?

Shaun,

If you have RenderWorks you can place the portrait easily onto your drawing. Create a polygon that is the approximate desired size, convert to 3D polygons, create a new texture, import the image of the portrait as the texture, set the feature size to the horizontal size of the polygon, deselect tiling options. Apply the texture, position the polygon (slightly off the wall so that it is not part of the wall and buried) then render.

Without RenderWorks it is more complicated. For this you would need to generate a bitmap image outside of VectorWorks and import it into your drawing. From this point you would need to focus on resizing and reshaping the 2D object (it will not change views).

As for the roof, I am not sure as to what you are having a problem with. Are you having problems with z heights or problems with gable ends, or another problem. If you could be a little more specific then I will try to answer as soon as possible. Also, you may wish to contact Technical Support directly for further assistance.
