Multiple wall elevations within same layer?

I'm trying to lay out a design that features a main house, with finished floor 1'6" above grade, and a garage in front, with finished floor at grade. I'm not wed to using stories, regardless, I cannot get the walls of the garage to be 1'6" below the main house, even though the inserted doors are. What's the best way to do this?

There are a few ways to do this, I'll recommend the easiest 🙂

Since the garage is a separate structure, put it on a separate layer.

You could then set the layer elevation for the house and garage independently.

This gives you some flexibility if you use layer based wall heights as well since the garage will likely require something different than the house.
