Aggie463
I am a new user and have 2 questions: 1) How do you make a 3D rectangle solid into a roof (for a single sloping roof)? 2)How do you fit window walls to a roof? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
Welcome Aggie, you do not turn a solid into a roof face, instead you draw a 2D rectangle and use the AEC>ROOF FACE menu to convert the rectangle into a roof face. The roof face window will open to input your parameters. I'm not sure how a window wall will behave, but a typical wall(s) can be fitted to a roof with the AEC>FIT WALLS TO ROOF menu. Pick your walls and invoke the menu command, a window will open to input your parameters. Quote Link to comment
Aggie463
Well...I just tried that and it still won't create a roof face. It just closes the roof face dialogue box and the rectangle remains a rectangle Quote Link to comment
G_Hannigan
After you exit the dialogue box, you have to draw a straight line to tell VW where to create the roof axis. Try it again and after you exit the dialogue box take a look at the Mode Bar - it should tell you to draw a line. George Quote Link to comment
Peter Eichel
Aggie, after you've set your parameters in the dialogue box and it closes, the next step is to click on a corner of the rectangle and drag a line which represents the roof axis. You will then see an arrow which represents the upward slope. Click on the side of the line you want for the slope and presto, your roof face is created. Quote Link to comment
