Associating Levels, Layers, and Stories...

Having issues working with layers, levels and stories.

 

Even though I've associated layers with stories in the layers tab of the Organization palate, I can't get then to be recognized in the levels part of the stories tab. I don't know what's going on, been flipping through help files spinning my wheels with this for way too long, and am fed up. 

 

What am I missing?

on the relevant story - click edit in bottom of menu - and add the relevant levels to the storey (minimum should be a finished floor level)

Yes, thankyou. However it seems the only way I can associate a layer with that level is to create a new layer within the level dialogue box.

 

I was trying to associate previous existing layers with those levels.

 

It appears I just can't do that.

Hmmh, I did that all the time.

I always create my Layers manually in Navigation Palette and or edit them

in Organization Palette Layer Edit and assign Stories to them later.

I did the same for existing or imported Layers.

 

 

You just have to care about the Layer Height when assigning a Story.

Instead of just using Story's height after - VW does some math and

adds or subtract the Story height from the previous Layer height.

So you have to delete a potential offset in Z manually after assigning

a Story to a Layer.

To associate an existing Design Layer with a Storey or Level you need to do that in the Design Layers tab of the Organization window, not the Stories tab.

Yeah I was able to do the association in the design layers tab, but the resulting associations did not appear in the stories & levels tab. 
 

Were you able to achieve this?

Now I see it, the Levels Column next to the Stories Column in the Design Layers Tab. Hadn't notices that before...

 

I was running around in circles trying to figure out how to manipulate those assignments within the stories tab and it's nice graphical UI.
