How do I know which classes are assigned to a layer

Recommended Posts

Classes aren't assignd to Layers. Only objects can be assigned to a Layer.

You could make a worksheet though that lists all the objects on a particular layer and what class they are in.

  1. Run the Create Report command
  2. Go to advanced criteria
  3. create a criteria as Layer is <design layer name>
  4. Take a look at the Search within checkboxes and activate the items that are important to you remembering that you may have all sorts of subclasses within symbols and Plug-in objects.
  5. Click OK
  6. then in the columns section choose Functions
  7. select Class and Layer (you only actually need class) and add them to the list on the right.
  8. Click OK

You should have a worksheet that lists every item in a list with the class name of each item and the the Layer name as well. (The Layer Name should be the same for each one.)

If you want to know exactly what each object is, then add the Function ObjectTypeName to the list alongside the Class and Layer columns.

Hope that is what you need.
