digitalcarbon
how can i cut a DTM at the foundation line? it would be like a big polygon w/ a smaller rectangle cut out of the middle. i viewed the DTM movie and saw the massing model and fences features. do i use these but have them dig me a hole instead of building me a pad? Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 3, 2006 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 3, 2006 Draw two polygons, one at the footprint of the foundation, one offset just a little bit to the outside (fraction of an inch). Use Objects from Polyline to turn the polys into Site modifiers. Set the inner one to be a pad at the bottom of your desired excavation, the outer one to be a fence. Then recalc the DTM. islandmon
Assign all Pads & Fences > Class= Site-DTM-Modifier ( man. sec. 6-13) making certain only Pads & Fence have this class. Quote Link to comment

Ian M.
16 years later, it is about time there was an answer to this question. It may depend on your version of Vectorworks. In the "Architect" edition, draw the desired polygon, then go to the "AEC" menu, select "Create Objects from Shapes...". A pop-up window opens with a pull-down menu allowing you to select "Object Type". Pick "Site Modifier" and check the box "Show Properties Dialog". Click "OK", and the "Site Modifier" Object Preferences window will open with all kinds of options to define the Site Modifier. Quote Link to comment
