Link Text to Record Default Text

Probably a simple fix but I'm struggling to figure it out.  I have symbols that I have linked text to.  When I do the text linking, #Text fills those slots making the symbol size appear huge compared to the actual symbol.  Is there a way for the default of a symbol to be blank without it having the #text making the symbol larger?  I've attached an image of the symbol with the text all blank.

I don't think there is a way to make the bounding box smaller. It will always be large enough to contain everything that is inside the symbol. Which would include the place holders for the linked text.

 

If this really bothers you you could possibly use a Data Tag to display the data from the record and not used the Linked Text to Record function. That would give you two objects, but each would have a smaller bounding box.
