Adjust the direction of a Light / Spot

Elite Exhibits

Question

Adjust the direction of a Light / Spot

Is there an easy way to adjust the Light / Spot look to arrow (see the attached) in a single plane.
I often have a Light / Spot set up where the illumination produced is as desired, where the final needed edit is to move the location of the Light / Spot or to re-aim the directional / look to arrow. When I do this, I change to an Orthogonal Front or Side view assuming that the light will move in a single plane. Holding the shift is the assumed keyboard modifier. While moving the overall Light / Spot is constrained, the look to arrow is not.

I am unable to set a working plane to a Light / Spot.

The Obj Info Palette has a single setting for Look to Height

Only work around I have found is to place a 3D Locus where I want the focus to be, and snap the look to arrow to this Locus in an Isometric View
