Reset Braceworks ID's and Hoist Labels

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to retain the Hoist ID when performing a Reset Braceworks ID's?  Or display the Distro/Properties field in the label instead of Hoist ID, so the reset doesn't clear the label information?

I like to use the OIP Hoist Labels that colour nicely instead of data tags.  Legacy hoists functioned well in that sense.

Also wondering how to copy and paste those same OIP hoist label positions.  Previously we could use the eye dropper tool, and apply the label positions to other hoists.  It's tedious to do it manually now.  Anyone got a trick?

I agree on the legacy hoist. Think they were much better.

You can still use the eye dropper tool to move the labels for all of them, just make sure to select the <Plugin-Parameters> or <All-Parameters> in the settings drop down next to the eye dropper preference tap. Pickup with dropper from a hoist that is correct, select all hoists (same type) and apply to one. This should apply to all of them.  Although the draw back is it will change all hoists to the same Hoist ID as well. Though this can be fixed with Spotlight numbering.

Hope it helps.

Not at the moment, there are two options to avoid using the data

  • Use data tags (but at this point there isn't any way to get the tag to color like the label does), set it to display the Hook weight equivalent and distro/properties fields.
  • Another possibly better route is to use the Spotlight Report command to create a Hoist worksheet and use that to rename the hoists back to the original IDs
store the hoist ID in the name field (or any other user defined field), this can be done in the worksheet or when you first created the hoists using auto-numbering
Create the worksheet, set it to display Hoist ID and Hoist Name as columns (or the field you duplicated the Hoist ID in)
once the IDs have been reset open the worksheet, select the complete name column contents (without the header) and copy and paste it into the ID column. This will update all the hoists back to the original ID's in one go

I'm putting in several enhancement requests based on the points you raise here

  • Add the hoist label coordinates back into the hoist properties
  • To have the Reset Braceworks command looked at with a view to adding some user controlled options to control whether user defined ID's like the Hoist ID is reset or whether only the objects internal id (the UUID) is affected
  • To have Braceworks color data tags attached to hoists (and potentially other rigging objects) the same as it does with labels.
