buz
I have a cut sheet from a window manufacturer showing head, sill and muntin (plan views, no scale). I would like to scan this sheet into VWA and modify it showing installation details. Can anyone give me the one, two, three of doing this ... or is this even possible? islandmon
First make sure that the images are not available on the manufactures website ... often they have jpg included PDF pages. I often use my large format scanner for similar details. 1) Scan @300dpi grayscale 2) Crop & Enhance 3) Import as jpg into layer with same scale as detail 4) Create a horizontal line measure to determine scaling factor. 5) Multiply or divide the line length to match deatil length. 6) Scale imported image by the scale factor 7) Create new 'Design Layer' with same layer scale over imported scan layer. 8) Create a new 'Sheet Layer' with both layers Have at it... buz
islandmon Thanks for your method. A bit of it is 'greek' to me but I think I can figure it out since I'm self taught in VW/VWA anyway. I'll post back if my best efforts don't produce. Thanks again Quote Link to comment
CEA
Does anyone have any recommendations for large format scanners? I'd like one that can handle 11X17 drawings. Quote Link to comment
Kevin
Large format scanners can be expensive. I use my local reprographics house to do this for me. They can scan to a CD in a TIFF format which works great for me. They can do full D and E size sheets. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
ebay >search for Mustek > ScanExpress A3 Good quality excellent scans reasonable price but requires classic & photoshop with twain driver to work on Mac. Quote Link to comment
