sfatelier
When I view a wall with windows in the 3-d model view, some windows just show the sill while others display just fine. I checked the object info palette and everything seems to be in order, e.g. height, width, elevation, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dean Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted July 6, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 6, 2005 Some of your windows are not actually inserted in the walls. If you select your windows, some will say (at the top of the object info palette) "Window" while others will say "Window in Wall". The former are not properly inserted. Drag them away from the wall and back into the wall. When you are inserting windows with the window tool, particularly if you wall has no fill, sometimes the window tool will not "pick" the wall. To make sure you "pick" the wall, you can click on one of the wall surfaces instead of in the middle of the wall. Hope this is helpful. Quote Link to comment

michael john williams
Yes, but: 1. I still find it hard to insert windows in walls, it takes several attempts and the only way to do it is roughly put the window in the wall, drag it out and replace it by dragging on the centre of the jamb and clicking with the point of a line position in the centre of the wall. Even then it takes several attempts. And yes the wall insert mode is clicked. 2. Also you still see unsightly black lines below the cills in the elevation which take rendering to minimise. 3. I think it would be great to add a wall jamb plan shape in the window / door insert mode as wall jambs do not normally have flat ends, especially existing buildings which are either splayed [various angles] , round or zig zag. islandmon
Create a hybrid symbol of your Doors & Windows then in 2D add a redline for outer face & any other items as required. it helps that when inserting the 'Screen Hints' is active. Quote Link to comment
