Wall Recess -- why is this happening?

No matter what we do, the wall recess doesn't cut through to the full length of the wall.  The 3D block were using expands past the ends of the wall, on each end, but when it's cut, it ends about a foot short & only here. Why is this happening?  Any insight would be absolutely appreciated

I remember seeing something similar dealing with recesses and wall intersections in another thread.  It might be somewhere in here:

@E|FA is absolutely right, Wall Recesses cannot be applied to the full length of a Wall. But if you work your way through that thread you'll find info on a technique whereby you can create a Wall Hole Component symbol which will subtract the geometry you want from the full length of the wall.
