d.o
Hello, I'm trying to create an object node / a plugin object that displays a circle + a text showing the x,y location of the circle. I've read in several places that this should be possible using Get Symbol Location and I've tried many variations but none worked. In the picture attached I placed the Object Node at 0/0 but it shows 1e+100, 1e+100. I've tried VW 2019 and 2020 on Mac. I would appreciate any help. David Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Take a look path the file attached to this post. I think it does exactly what you want. The whole thread is worth reading. 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Update. It looks like the Parent PIO node that is the base of the above network is not part of the VW Marionette Defaults. 😞 1 Quote Link to comment
Peter Vandewalle
Parent PIO is a node in the Marionette defaults. I think it has been added later. I've been using it for a few versions now. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.o
Succes! It works perfectly with the Parent PIO from the Link Pat Stanford posted. I didn't find it in the Marionette defaults though (neither 2019 nor 2020). showxy_2.vwx Quote Link to comment

But I find the Marionette categories confusing for even simple things. Quote Link to comment
Peter Vandewalle
I just searched on parent… Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
@Peter VandewalleI only get GetParent when I do that. Are you using a localized version of VW? Or the stock US version? Can you tell me what the path you see to the node is? Quote Link to comment
m.graf
Hi Pat Stanfort, i always search "Pio" or "Pio Handle" to find the node... greatings M. Graf Edited January 27, 2022 by m.graf 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Thanks @m.graf The reason I couldn't find it is that the node is actually named PIO Handle, but the text displaying on the node when inserted is Parent PIO. It is located in the Object Info portion of the Default nodes. Thankfully the nodes are color coded by group which made it easier to find. 1 Quote Link to comment

This has always bothered me! I'll see if there's an opportunity to coordinate those names, otherwise I'll try to throw a tag in there for searching at the very least. 1 Quote Link to comment
