Piotr Karczewski
I was wondering is it possible to convert rendered simplified horizontal section viewport view into 2d component of a symbol? I want to create 2d/3d symbol form downloaded 3d model. When downloading 3d models from ex. 3d warehouse, It's a quite dense mesh, but if I make a horizontal section cut to the viewport I receive clear 2d simplified sketch. Is there any way to transform this viewport image into 2d polylines for future use as 2d symbol component? I have tried to fill the spaces with the polygon fill bucket but it's not working... Pat Stanford
Try this. Make the viewport. Set it to a 1:1 scale. Render. Convert to Lines: Choose Hidden Line Rendering. You should get a group. Copy and paste into the Top/Plan section of the symbol. Align with the 3D portion. HTH. 2 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Matt Panzer Posted January 26, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Share Posted January 26, 2022 Hello @Piotr Karczewski If you're not actually sectioning the object, you can make a symbol out of the geometry, edit the symbol's Top (or other) 2D Component, right-click on the background and choose the "Generate 2D from 3D Component" context menu command. This method usually gives you better curved linework as well. ScreenFlow.mp4 8 Quote Link to comment
