Plantonia
Square Footage Can someone please tell me how to easily calculate square footage on a house? On Auto Cad one can simply "click" the corners and get the total. Is there something similar in VW? Sorry, my documentation is currently in storage. Thanks, P Quote Link to comment
jan15
The Object Info Palette gives the area of any polygon or other surface object. So you can click the corners using the Polyline tool and then read the properties of the resultant object. Or, more likely, you've already got the necessary polygons for poche of floor materials, so just select them and read the area of each. Or, to get only the total, select all of them at once, Duplicate, and Add Surface to get a composite polygon of the entire floor. Quote Link to comment
Delmer
Also, when you select multiple polygons the OIP will show you the total added area. If you have AEC you can also Create Gross Area Polys from walls. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Plantonia, one note of caution: you can select any shape, or multiple shapes, and the OIP will give you the square footage, but if the shapes overlap each other the total will not be accurate, as the entire area of each shape will be added. If you need to you can use the add surface command to join the shapes, then the total wil be accurate. Quote Link to comment
Ramon PG
You could also make a simple polygon in seconds. Then tuck it away in some AREA class or something. BTW, is there a way of adding the areas in the Room Schedule? Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Don't forget the AEC > Create Space from polygons . This PIO is very useful and also handles the text referencing and the matrix. I use it for every project . When you change the footprint just go into the Space >poly and modify it to calc the new area, etc. Just keep in mind that the text is very sensitive to scale issues especially if you're re-scaling from say 1:48 > 1:480 on the Viewport.
