Ivan Hörler
Hi I live in Switzerland and try to understand the concept of stories. My problem is that I have entirely different constructed floors, walls and roofs than drawn in help files. Does anybody have metric help files like the ones found here in the first three pinned posts? Or possible even some Files of Houses in mid Europe (with basement, dual clay stone Walls and Tiled roofs)? Another Question I think is more general and related to story elevation and Layer +/- 0. Where do you set the 0 point of story layers? Is it top of Slap or Bottom of Slap (ceiling of below Story) or even the visual floor top? There I'm quite puzzled. Exercising test drawings since days. Reading and looking at Videos, still it's a mystery to me. Thanks for answers. Quote Link to comment

Finish Floor / OK FFB Because nowadays Finish Floors are all level at the same height, (Wegen behindertengerecht etc.), and it is the main level of interest. And easier from a CAD perspective. Only for e.g. Renovations, with very different FFB heights, I would maybe choose Top of Structure / tragende Deckenplatte / OK RD. Floor Slab is part of the Story and extends below Story Height, like outer Components of outer Walls may do. My Story tops, so also the Wall Tops, end where Bottom of Structure of Story above will begin. (If I would have separate Ceilings, I even would assign them to the Story above. Even if it is just to be able to look into my Story from above when modeling) Usually the Structural Slab runs through the whole Building, while each Room may have a different Finish Floor. So I have a Sandwich of 2 Slabs. 1 large Structural Slab + a separate Finish Floor Package Slab filled into each Room (mit Fülleimerchenmethode) So beside the Stories, you may want to set several basic Story Levels (Referenzhöhen) like : UK RD, OK RD, OK FFB = Story Height, alternatively additional : UK abgehängte Decke, OK Brüstung / UK Fenster, OK Attika / OK Dachaufbau etc. Quote Link to comment
Silvano
Hi, Ivan Hörler. The correct concept of stories, elevations and layers is of the buildingSMART. You can see a simple exemple in the figure 151, in meters, at: https://standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/RELEASE/IFC4_1/FINAL/HTML/schema/ifcproductextension/lexical/ifcbuildingstorey.htm 1 Quote Link to comment
