Travis
The nominal dimensions calculated by the Framing Member Tool don't seem to be quite right. Typically a nominal 4x is 3 1/2" wide. The Tool triggers up to the next nominal size at these widths. . .you have to set the member width to 3 3/8" to keep nominal reading 4", for example. Additionally, the Tool doesn't recognize a nominal 3x (2 1/2" wide). Neither does the Joist tool, for that matter. We use a considerable amount of 3x material in our projects. On the other hand, timber-size heights seem to be correct. I'd add, however, that to be super-useful the tool would be able to differentiate between rough-sawn and S4S. Rough-sawn is commonly full-dimension. Is there a way to adjust the formula? Or perhaps to directly enter the nominal data? The take-offs produced by using Framing Members makes production much more accurate. Thanks for any help, [ 03-22-2005, 04:19 PM: Message edited by: Travis ] Quote Link to comment
