Vectorworks 2021 license server adress for all users ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are in a education environment with a license server.

Is there a way to enter license server address so that any user who sits down at a workstation can use Vectorworks?

After a successful install by one user with admin rights, we find that the next user (of the same workstation) needs to also enter license server information before Vectorworks is registered and available to use.

We don't want that because there is so much users and lot of them will not understand what they will have to do.

Thank You

Hi @CedricJ

After launching on one of the client machines and connecting to the server, a “LoginDialog.xml” file will be created in the following location:

Macs:  /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/2022/Settings/SeriesG/

Windows: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks\2022\Settings\Series G

Copy this file and move it to the following location (you may need to create this SeriesG Folder):

Macs:  /Applications/Vectorworks 2022/Settings/SeriesG/LoginDialog.xml

Windows: C:\Program Files\Vectorworks 2022\Settings\SeriesG\LoginDialog.xml

The login dialog settings should now be read by all user accounts. You can configure the .XML file first to pre-populate the IP and port values and even hide the login dialog on launch. (To disable the login dialog from showing during startup, set the DontShowAtStartup value to 1.)

You will need to share that file on all the computers, so they know where to reach the licensing server.

Hello,

Thank you @jblock for your help.

Sorry, that doesn't work.

We use Vectorworks 2021.

Maybe I make a mistake, I've placed this LoginDialog.xml file in "C:\Program Files\Vectorworks 2021 FR\Settings\SeriesG" :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>

<LoginDialog>

  <Days>1</Days>

  <AutoFindServer>0</AutoFindServer>

  <AutoFindMaxTime>1</AutoFindMaxTime>

  <DontShowAtStartup>1</DontShowAtStartup>

  <Servers>

    <Server>licences:5053</Server>

  </Servers>

  <Modules>

    <MainModule>fundamentals</MainModule>

  </Modules>

</LoginDialog>

My mistake was to use a user profil that already have a bad xml file in appdata...

Now, I have another question :
Is it possible to don't show this window that asks for personalize copy of Vectorworks with user name and entreprise name ?

Hi folks, sorry for replying to an old topic but I have hunted everywhere. I do not have the Logindialog.xml ... it's not evenn creating this location on our macs.
Can you advise where else this may be?
