apswoodwork
Hi. Where can I find (or how do I import) a 2d elevation of a fridge freezer? I have an oven, but the tall fridge/freezers are all 3d and I'm drawing in 2D, so I only see the top of the appliance. Thanks, Andy. Quote Link to comment
MarcelP102
Trace the 3d model model? You can make a viewport from the 3d model front view and place it on your design layer to trace it. But then again, a fridge is not the most advanced object to draw by hand? Simple draw some squares 1 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post TomKen
In VW you can generate a 2d views from a 3d symbols. Select the fridge symbol you want a front elevation of, right click and select edit 3d component. In the 3d component editor switch to a front view of the symbol, then right click a select "generate 2d component from 3d componet". This will create a 2d view of the object, select the linework copy it to the clipboard, exit the editor then past the 2d linework to your design layer. 6 Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
1 hour ago, TomKen said: "generate 2d component from 3d componet". I love this feature + use it all the time. Although often VW will not like the 3D object I've asked it to convert into lines + I'll just get a spinning beach ball for hours + have to force quit. It's often unclear ahead of time what geometry it'll like + what it won't. Also, sometimes you end up with millions of unwanted lines + have to spend an age tidying it up, in which case you're often better just drawing it yourself. That's not to say that most of the time it doesn't work great 4 Quote Link to comment
