Custom Records for Doors

Hi All

 

I'm after some advise, I have a project with lots of doors that we have attached a custom record to as it needs to show all sorts of data, the problem i am having is with normal symbols I can easily link the text information from the record so it show on the drawings but as the doors are all plug in items it will not let me "link text to record" and just says illegal object selected.

 

Any ideas?

Take a look at Data Tags.  They allow you to mix parametric data from the door or window with your own data.  And they are MUCH more graphically editable.

If you make a symbol from the plug-in doors, you can add the text to record. If you use a symbol, you can add the record inside the symbol so that as you place the symbols drawing, it automatically adds the record. 
 

 Michael’s idea should still be used, you will find the data tags much more flexible.
