Promo776
I have been banging my head against my desk all day today.... How do I connect a connector panel (CTP) to a drop point / cable route? I can do it with a term panel (DTP) no problem. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Nikolay Zhelyazkov Posted October 26, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 26, 2021 Hello @Promo776, What you have found is something that we did not take in account when we implemented this logic. This is a bug that we will look into and try to fix as soon as possible. In the meantime, there is a workaround that is not very much recommended, which is to change the device and equipment names to not start with "CTP_" but with "CTP-" or something different, and then you will be able to select not to draw the equipment in front view (aka draw it in 3D) and then you will be able to connect it to the drop point. In other words, currently only 3D equipment items can be connected to drop points and since CTPs are always drawn in front view they cannot be connected to drop points. Sorry for the inconvenience, Nikolay Zhelyazkov 2 Quote Link to comment

FKA
Ok fine, but what's the idea when I do schematics, with Connectorpanels and a Rackelevation where I want to connect the Equipment in Racks with Drop Points? As soon an I put my equipment-Items in a 2D Rack it loses the connection to the drop point. I can draw a 3D Rack and manually "mount" my equipment in the rack but how can I go the classic way and have a 2D Rack with a 2d representation of the rack and a 3D version thats connected to the droppoint? Where do I miss the point? Thanks for your help Quote Link to comment

And 3D racks are counted for drop points and can be connected with cable paths. So you can either go with 3D rack only and no drop points or go for 3D rack and connect it to a drop point with a cable path object. 1 Quote Link to comment
FKA
🤦♂️OK thanks I didn't recognized that I can connect a Rack in the same way as a Droppoint, but yes that makes absolute sense. Quote Link to comment
wscooper
Is there any update to this functionality yet? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Nikolay Zhelyazkov Posted February 20, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 20, 2023 Hello all, Sorry about the delay. Yes, equipment items with CTP_ prefix in their names can be connected to drop points in VW 2022 SP4 and in VW 2023 too. (Since it was long time ago since this was fixed it might be fixed in 2022 SP3 too, but I have not checked there to confirm) Best Regards, Nikolay Zhelyazkov Quote Link to comment
