Working with STP or STPZ files

We had a supplier who used to offer the IGES which seemed to work well. Now they are offering STP files and doesnt seem to be a way to get these into VW that I can find? Any suggestions  I might be overlooking?

There should be an Import STEP in the Import menu. If it is not there, I bet you are using a custom workspace. Edit it and add it. Or switch to one of the standard workspaces. 

 

If it is an old custom workspace, you might want to consider starting over and recreating based on one of the current standard workspaces as there are probably other new tools/commands that you don't have in your workspace also.

 

I have imported relatively large number of STEP files and they seem to work well. I am not certain about STPZ.

Hey Pat! I think you are onto something. That was definitely the case. However; seems to still not want to import the file. Gonna keep chipping away. Might be missing something simple.

It wont let me sent the file as STP is not an accepted format in the messenger? Any Ideas?

The workaround here was to add the .txt extension.  You can remove that. The supplier told me to unzip this file and then add back in the STP extension. I tried several variations none seem to work so far.

They sent me a new version and it worked. Not sure what the issue was. Does seem to work if the file is prepared correctly.

Yes, it definitely look like they sent the wrong thing.  

 

If you manually unarchive the stpz file, you get a file called 120-10303-21.txt.

Well its only working when they send me one format. All the ones listed on their site do not seem to work properly when pulled down. None the less thanks for pointing out the error on my part.
