Paul Bennett
This is a STEM table speaker/microphone. I created two sweeps so i could texture them differently and married them with a bitmap on top, but I would like to put the vents in around the bottom piece. Could someone give me an idea how I could do this without trying to intersect solids 500 times? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Hard to tell from the image is all the vents are the same, but it they are, just create one of them and then do a circular array with rotation to get a "fan" of objects. Select the "fan" and the bottom extrude and Subtract Solids. I just used an extruded rectangle for the "cutting" object(s). 2 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Kevin McAllister
Here's my take which is similar to Pat's. I would make the array in 2d first and then extrude it all together. Much easier to make a change later if needed. Kevin Stem Speaker.vwx 5 Quote Link to comment
Paul Bennett
Thank you very much, I got both these methods to work, however, I had to do a bit of research. I was not able to Modify>Subtract Solids, unless I converted the sweep to a mesh. Could anyone explain why this is? Quote Link to comment

Its hard to know why you couldn't without a file. I'm surprised you could use Subtract Solids with a mesh since a mesh is not a solid. In the future I would convert an object to a generic solid if its giving you trouble. Kevin Quote Link to comment
