Eamonn
Hello, what is the Vectorworks "Stress Testing" tool called? How do I test things I make? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Eamonn
If anyone knows about this function, could you please reply as I'm itching to test a few things? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I don't think there is a "stress test" tool. At least I have never heard of it. I think you just have to run your scripts/objects and manually do the testing. I hope I am wrong and learn something new. Quote Link to comment

Pat Stanford
I think we are talking about very different things. I was reading your post as being about scripting (programming) objects and then testing those scripts. I think you are looking for a way to do mechanical strength testing on something you have designed. There is not a lot of this built into VW. For lighting, there is a product called Braceworks which is a purchased option. This will do load calculations based on the type of truss and the applied load from lights and hoists. For simple 2D calculations there are some basic Beam calculations under Framing and Machine Design. And these are very basic and not designed to do complex networks of beams and framing. Other than those, I am not aware of any other mechanical loading calculations for Vectorworks. You will probably have to export your model to a different systems to do load calculations. Eamonn
Ok, so no mechanical strength testing. Can I ask a few other questions? Is there the function that automates a cutting list and bill of materials? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
There have been a number of threads over the years about BOM and cut lists. If you are using Symbols or Plug-In Objects, then it is relatively easy. If you want to use extrudes/sweeps/etc. then it gets more complicated. Worksheets are you friend for this, and are greatly improved in VW2022 over previous versions. Quote Link to comment
